Mason City man arrested after shooting in Forest City

gunGARNER – A man who claims to live in Mason City was arrested by law enforcement after a woman was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 4:34 PM Tuesday, February 24, deputies responded to a report of gunshots at a rural Forest City residence. A 26-year-old woman sustained a non-fatal wound to the leg in the incident. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City for treatment of her injury. At the scene, deputies arrested 28-year-old Norris Odell Hughes, who claims via social media to live in Mason City and have a girlfriend who is 26 years old.

Hughes is a convicted felon. He is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and is being held in the Hancock County Jail. An investigation is underway to determine whether the shooting was accidental or otherwise.

Norris Odell Hughes is the older brother of Michael Juwan Jacob Hughes, age 18, who has entered not guilty pleas to two of the serious charges he faces after a rampage he allegedly took part in on February 3, 2015 in Mason City that involved a carjacking and beating of a woman at Wal-Mart. Michael Juwan Jacob Hughes has pleaded not guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated and second degree theft and will stand trial on those charges on April 21.

I thought this P.O.S. was in jail. Why is he out on the streets. What is wrong with the Judges????
