What’s next: The No. 8 NIACC women’s basketball team (17-4 overall, 6-1 in ICCAC) returns to action Saturday at No. 4 Kirkwood (19-4, 7-0). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
Kirkwood topped NIACC 73-71 in the first meeting between the two nationally-ranked teams on Jan. 10 in Mason City.
Last time out: The Lady Trojans topped Southeastern 83-69 last Saturday. Sophomore Sierra Ford-Washington scored 19 points and sophomore Ashleigh Onaca scored 17 points.
Among the nation’s best: NIACC ranks first among NJCAA Division II teams with 193 3-point goals. The Lady Trojans average 84.7 points per game, which ranks fourth in NJCAA Division II.
Among the league leaders: Ford-Washington leads the ICCAC in scoring averaging 21.8 points per game. Anderson ranks third in the league in scoring (16.8 ppg.) Also, Ford-Washington is second in the league in steals (52) and Onaca is tied for fourth in the league with 39 steals. Savannah Lentz is fourth in the league in 3-point goals (53) and Anderson ranks fifth (48).

Did you know? That the NIACC women’s basketball team has won 27 out of its last 30 ICCAC regular-season contests.

Men’s basketball
What’s next: The NIACC men’s basketball team (13-10, 3-3) returns to action Saturday at No. 7 Kirkwood (15-6, 1-3). Game time is set for 3 p.m.
NIACC topped Kirkwood 75-67 in the ICCAC opener for both teams on Jan. 10 in Mason City.
Last time out: The Trojans dropped a 86-73 decision at Southwestern on Jan. 28.
Among the league leaders: Al Davis ranks second in the ICCAC with 114 assists.Braxton Williams ranks second in the league in steals (53) and Davis ranks third in steals (51). Conor Lang ranks fifth in the league in 3-point goals with 53.

Did you know? That Paul Bruns is NIACC’s single-season scoring leader with 797 points in the 1994-95 season. Bruns was the MVP of the NJCAA Division II national tournament as he helped lead the Trojans to the national title.

Wrestling
What’s next: The No. 5 NIACC wrestling team returns to action Feb. 15 at the NJCAA North Central district meet in Worthington, Minn.
Last time out: NIACC (6-2 in duals) topped Iowa Lakes 40-9 on Jan. 28 and dropped a 24-13 decision to No. 3 Iowa Central on Jan. 30.
For the record: Yoanse Mejias (157) is 26-3 … Nosomy Pozo (149) is 25-6 … Paul Mascarenas (125) is 19-8 … Shiquan Hall (133) is 24-7 … Jake Marlin (141) is 18-5.
Did you know? That Mejias and Pozo are a combined 112-14 in their two years at NIACC. Mejias has a career mark ot 62-5 and Pozo is 50-9.

Indoor track and field
What’s next: The NIACC men’s and women’s track and field teams return to action Saturday at the Grinnell Invitational.
Last time out: The NIACC women’s track and field team set three school records at the Jack Jennett Invitational on Jan. 30 in Cedar Falls. Hannah Palmeter set the indoor school record in the mile (5:09.87), Ellen Padmore set the school mark in the 400 (1:00.25) and Adrine Monagi set the school record in the 200 (26.30).
For the NIACC men at the UNI meet, John Enright won the 600 in 1:23.15, which qualified him for the NJCAA national indoor meet.
Also for the NIACC men, Trey Simons placed second in the 800 in 1:56.57 and Imad Amenzou was fifth in the 800 (1:59.47) and both qualified for nationals.
Among the nation’s best: Palmeter ranks second nationally in the mile (5:09.87), Monagi ranks third nationally in the indoor pentathlon (3,245 points), LaBrisha Michael ranks fourth in the shot put (13.67 meters) and Rellie Kaputin ranks ninth in the high jump (1.67 meters) and ninth in the long jump (5.60 meters). For the NIACC men, Simons ranks 10th in the 800 (1:56.57) and the Trojans’ 4×800 relay composite time ranks third (8:01.02).
Did you know? That Monagi holds three NIACC indoor school records. She is the record holder in the 55 (7.37), the 60 (7.81) and the 200 (26.30).
