REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL

The City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa, met in regular session pursuant to law and rules of said Council, in the Mason City Room of the Mason City Public Library, at 7:00 P.M., on August 15, 2023. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor and on roll being called there were present, Bill Schickel, Mayor in the Chair, and the following Council Members: Jaszewski, Masson, Lee, Symonds, Adams. Absent: Thoma.

Adopt Agenda: Motion, Jaszewski; 2nd, Masson that the agenda be adopted. AYES: All (Motion carried.)

Administrator Burnett presented the Monthly Activity Report. Council comments and questions followed the report.

Consent Agenda: Regular Minutes of August 1, 2023; Claims dated August 3 and 10, 2023, in the amount of $2,245,394.97; Papas – Catering Privilege, Class C Liquor, Outdoor Service; North Iowa Bulls – Class C Liquor; Spikes – Class C Liquor, Outdoor Service; Willow Run Lounge – Class C Liquor, Outdoor Service; Appoint Steven Kopp as Water Distribution Worker; Resolution No. 23-170, award of contract for professional services (maintenance inspection services) to Dixon Engineering, Inc. of Greenfield, WI for the Water Tower Maintenance Program; Resolution No. 23-171, approving the purchase of two dump bodies, the removal and installation of one existing RDS body and the purchase of three reversible plows from Highway Truck of Fort Dodge Iowa for the Operation and Maintenance Division; Resolution No. 23-172, approving the purchase of two single axle truck chassis and one tandem truck chassis from Freightliner Truck Center of Clear Lake, Iowa for the Operation and Maintenance Division; Resolution No. 23-173, authorizing and approving a certain Loan Agreement, providing for the issuance of $9,050,000 General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds, Series 2023A and providing for the levy of taxes to pay the same; Resolution No. 23-174, authorizing and approving a certain Loan Agreement, providing for the issuance of $5,000,000 General Obligation Local Option Sales Tax Bonds, Series 2023B; Resolution 23-175, adopting and approving Tax Compliance Procedures relating to Tax Exempt Bonds; Resolution No. 23-176, authorizing the temporary closing of public ways for the Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Cup” on Thursday, September 14, 2023, was presented.

Motion, Jaszewski; 2nd, Symonds that all items in the Consent Agenda be approved and Resolutions adopted. AYES: All (Motion carried.)

GO Bonding – Municipal Securities Disclosure: Motion, Symonds; 2nd, Masson that Resolution No. 23-177, authorizing adoption of policies and procedures regarding municipal securities disclosure be adopted. Discussion followed regarding the reason for the policies and procedures. AYES: All (Motion carried.)

Adjourn: The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 7:20 p.m.

i have a real good idea, make the parking lot into a airplane runway and then could drive planes up to the bridge that goes nowhere to unload. probably only thing it will be used for
