MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man accused of domestic abuse assault causing injury has changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.
Chad Thomas West, age 43, initially entered a not guilty plea to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury. Police were called to a Clear Lake home on Sunday evening, November 9, for a domestic altercation. After an investigation into the incident, police arrested West and he was jailed. He was released the next day on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was imposed between himself and his alleged victim. West pleaded not guilty and awaited a January 13 jury trial.
In the meantime, West was arrested by Clear Lake police after they took a report that he had violated the no-contact order on December 8. He was found guilty on December 16 and sent to jail for a week.
On December 30, West’s lawyer filed a request to change his plea from not guilty to guilty, and plea hearing was set for January 20.
West already owes the courts $615.50 in this case.
