logo-iowa-state-patrolMASON CITY – One person was taken to Mercy hospital Tuesday after an accident in rural Cerro Gordo county.

According to a report, a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country driven by 35-year-old Justina Elke of Mason City was eastbound on county road B35 at about 9:40 AM. The vehicle approached the intersection of County Road S34 when it collided with a 2014 Jeep driven by 61-year-old Ricky Hudgins of Cobbs Creek, Virginia.

Elke’s van came to rest in the southeast ditch, while Hudgins’ Jeep came to rest partially on B35 and on the shoulder.

Ehlke was transported to Mercy Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Hudgins and a passenger, 27-year-old Jon Clarke of Phoenix, Virgina, were also injured to some degree but both refused treatment at the scene.

Hudgins was charged with failure to stop.

Sorry to say this because not all cops are bad people, but the officer responsible for the discharge needs to be fired. There should be a zero tolerance policy concerning supposed ‘professional’ officers and their weapons. It’s a public health issue.
