Iowa man charged with bank robbery

CEDAR RAPIDS – Jacob Allen Mack, 24, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been charged with one count of bank robbery.

The Indictment alleges that, on or about May 2, 2014, Mack robbed the Hills Bank in downtown Cedar Rapids.

If convicted, Mack faces a possible maximum sentence of twenty years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Mack appeared on June 5, 2014, in federal court in Cedar Rapids and was held without bond. Mack’s next appearance for trial is set for August 4, 2014.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Morfitt and was investigated by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
