DES MOINES – Police in Iowa’s capitol city are seeking a man who wheeled a cart full of electronics out of a store without paying.

Police reported that at approximately 8:15 PM on April 26th, a black male suspect entered the Sears store in Southridge Mall asking for $850.00 worth of electronics. He was given the items which were placed in a shopping basket inside a shopping cart. The suspect walked around the store for a short time after taking control of these items.  Soon after, the man ran out the store without paying for the items.  He attempted to get into a car he had left running nearby. A Sears employee followed the suspect and was assaulted as he tried to prevent the loss of the items. The suspect then fled on foot leaving the car which had previously been reported stolen.

Hours later, Des Moines police declared that the suspect in the investigation was identified as 31-year-old Andrew Allen Bolden.

Des Moines Police Detectives received anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers in addition to another tip on their Facebook page. With this information warrants were requested, and received, for Bolden, charging him with 2nd Degree Robbery (for his actions at Sears) and 2nd Degree Theft for having control of the stolen car.

Bolden’s location at this time is unknown, but he is believed to be in Des Moines.
