MASON CITY – A local realtor is building condos near the Mason City fire station.
City officials confirmed Tuesday that Brett Schoneman has received Development Review Committee approval of a major site plan that depicts the construction of a 7 unit building on the corner of 4th Street SW and S. Madison Ave.
According to a source, the residential structure will be two stories tall, with garages on the north end of the lot.
The source indicated that a crew will be on-site “to break up concrete” on Wednesday, April 9.
Dean Snyder will be doing the construction.
Brett Schoneman couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

I am all for it as long as they use south facing solar panels, a rain-water catchment system, and must be made out of used automobile tires encased in rammed earth.
I’ve notified Matt you are an imposter. Give it up. He will ban your IP address if you keep it up.
@Philly_ I agree with you on this. Imposters should not be allowed. I hope Matt bans them. They think they are being cute using someone else’s name > I though once you were registered that the system would not allow that to happen.
People complain when there is building and when their is not. It appears many of these comments stem from jealousy and envy.
One way to see if it will be low income is to check to see if they have applied for tax credits…
@Mary Beth-I have been told that he has applied for every tax and federal program available. What else would you build in that area?
Im sure these will be low income for all the trash from Chicago and Detroit im glad I moved out of here
The article says “condos”.
That means ownership, not rentals.
why would anyone want to build their? that part of town is getting really rundown and is crackhead central.
This is an imposter. If you don’t see my blue sun picture it’s not me…please report.
Why should that be reported?
If the area is going to improve, someone has to take the first step.
Pretty sure that is in the flood plane.
@ LVS…. Wait until Philly gets a whiff of this. You know it will have to be built out of used tires and be solar equipped before it gets his blessing.
Oh, that Philly, what a character.
It’s not.
I was wrong here. It is two blocks away from the flood plane. Still not a good area for new condo’s.
How high can a flood plane fly?
