THORNTON – Cerro Gordo county police are investigating an attempted burglary at a business in the small North Iowa community of Thornton.
Deputies were dispatched to Jaspersen Insurance, 301 Main Street, for an alarm that showed back door motion on Fridaym, March 1 at about 9:23 PM. A deputy arrived on the scene and found that unknown subject(s) attempted to gain entry through the back door of the business. No entry was made, but the back door was damaged.
Police said that photographs were taken and there are no suspects at this time.

They both are law enforcement!! But the sheriff and chief of police have huge egos and can’t stand each other!
That’s because Jurisdiction and Authority are at stake. THEY LIKE TO HAVE CONTROL and authority, but they don’t like it when others have control and authority. The PEOPLE HAVE THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, but fail to exercise it via CITIZEN REVIEW BOARDS of their police and sheriff’s departments. Capitalism tires everyone out trying to keep up paying bills, so people don’t have time or energy to be good citizens and run their communities the correct way.

Matt’s right: all law enforcement are authoritatively the same. Any one of them can cross over county lines in pursuit. It’s a giant network that relies on networking and telecommunications with the ability to use deadly force and have it justified 98% of the time. Even Sheriff’s who are elected have X amount of time to attend and pass law enforcement academy or they are booted. As much as they see themselves as divinely justified, they are just humans who use the technology of others.
