AMES – The Iowa State women’s basketball team (19-8, 8-8 Big 12) got a huge road win as they took down No. 15 Oklahoma State (21-6, 10-6 Big 12) by a score of 86-69 on Wednesday night. It was one of the most efficient offensive efforts of the season, as the Cyclones shot 53 percent from the field and assisted on 20 of 29 made field goals.

Defense and three point shooting were the difference in the first half as the Cyclones built a lead that stretched to as large 14 points in the first half. Iowa State’s first five field goals of the game were all triples, including three treys from freshman Jadda Buckley in the first 12 minutes of the game.

Iowa State would also use a 14-5 run later in the half over a five minute stretch to take a 33-19 lead. Six different Cyclones would score during the run, including five from Brynn Williamson. Guard Nikki Moody, whose previous career rebounding high was eight, pulled down nine boards in the first half alone as Iowa State took a 34-23 lead into the halftime intermission.

The Cyclones jumped on Oklahoma State right out of the gate after halftime, going on a 10-4 run following the intermission. The run included five from freshman Seanna Johnson. It was a back and forth affair from there, with OSU trimming the Iowa State lead to as few as five points with 10:36 remaining on a Liz Donohoe trey.

Iowa State had an answer at every Oklahoma State run, often in the form Williamson and Buckley. Williamson hit five threes in the game, including three after halftime to help the Cyclones close out the game, giving her 17 for the game. The freshman Buckley recorded a game-high 26 to go with five assists.

Moody ended the game with a near triple-double, going for nine points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds as her presence was felt all over the floor. Hallie Christofferson had another efficient effort, with 17 points and eight rebounds on 5 of 9 shooting from the floor.

Jadda Buckley had her second 20-point game of the season (26) on just 12 shots from the field. She seemingly hit a big shot every time Oklahoma State started to chip away at the Iowa State lead.
