FRANKLIN COUNTY – A West Des Moines man and woman were injured and hospitalized Saturday after a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 35.
According to a report, at about 12:20 PM Saturday, three vehicles were southbound on Interstate 35 at the 175 mile marker when they approached another accident on the roadway. A vehicle driven by 19-year-old Javier Antonio Vasques of Britt and a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Jeanne Marie Frank of Greene took evasive action. A third vehicle – a semi – driven by Fransico Mendoza, Jr. of Weslaco, Texas entered the median and struck Vasques’ vehicle in the rear left bumper, then continued through the median and across the northbound lanes.
Cassie May Beck, age 27, and Daniel Jason Beck, age 25, both from West Des Moines, were injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City with undisclosed injuries.
