SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – A program-record 66 Drake University football student-athletes have been named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced Friday, Jan. 24.
Drake’s 66 honorees were the second most in the PFL behind Dayton’s 72 selections. In all, 590 PFL student-athletes earned the honor.
Following Dayton and Drake in total number of honorees was Butler (61), Stetson (59), Valparaiso (51), Marist (47), Mercer (46), Morehead State (46), San Diego (41), Davidson (38), Campbell (38) and Jacksonville (25)
PFL athletic directors and coaches established the honor roll as a way to recognize the league’s outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.
Drake has set program records for honorees each of the last three seasons with 62 earning the designation last season and 61 in 2011.
