MASON CITY – Police continue to investigate a crash that took place late Friday night on the NIACC campus.

According to police, on Friday, August 17th at about 11:54 PM, a single vehicle crash was reported in a NIACC parking lot near College Drive.

Marcus James Gaskill, 21, of Lake Mills, was driving a 2010 Chevy Equinox north on College Drive and apparently lost control, left the roadway, flipped/rolled his vehicle, and struck various objects – including a light pole – before coming to rest in/near a NIACC parking lot. Nobody else was in the vehicle.

Gaskill had various injuries as a result from the crash and was transported to Mercy ER by Mason City emergency responders. The crash is still under investigation.

  1. Let me guess, excessive speed. Still doesn’t top the home boy driving the escalade that went airborne about 100 feet, through some pine trees, then plowed some sod. Never did hear the outcome of that escapade.
