WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the City of Dubuque has received $1,227,138 from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) Economic Development Administration (EDA) to rehabilitate and rebuild the city’s century-old, flood-damaged sewer and water systems. The disaster relief project will also complete the restoration of Bee Branch Creek, a long-buried tributary of the Mississippi River. Harkin is a senior member of the committee that funds these initiatives.
“Today’s funding helps to keep more than 100 jobs right here in the community. Projects like Bee Branch Creek make critical infrastructure investments in our local communities that create jobs, boost economic growth, and improve the lives of residents,” said Harkin. “I congratulate Mayor Buol on this award and look forward to the improvements it will generate here in the community.”
