WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the State Veterans Home in Marshalltown has been awarded $614,995 from The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to renovate the facility’s boiler and steam distribution systems.
“Our veterans have put their lives on the line for the safety and security of all Americans. The freedoms that we enjoy are a reflection of their sacrifice and it is our duty to support the men and women of the military after they have left the battlefield,” said Harkin. “I congratulate the State Veterans Home on this award and I look forward to the improvements it will bring.”
The State Veterans Home in Marshalltown houses honorably discharged Iowa veterans and their spouses with demonstrated medical need.
