Second OWI, eluding officers lands “lunch lady” in jail

PLYMOUTH – A woman who claims to be a “lunch lady” at John Adams Middle School was arrested for her second operating while intoxicated charge early Friday morning.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department said that Melissa Jo Hauge, 36, of Plymouth, was arrested at about 2 AM on Friday, July 12th, 2013 for operating while intoxicated second offense, eluding, speeding, and interference with official acts.

Sheriff Kevin Pals said the arrest was a “typical traffic stop of an intoxicated driver.”

Hauge posted $2000.00 bond and was released.

On her public Facebook Page, Hauge claims to be a Mason City John Adams Middle School “Lunch Lady” from January of 2008 to present day.  Her previous operating while intoxication charge was in 2004; she was found guilty.

Hauge’s charges:

• 1 Aggravated Misdemeanor: 321J.2 OPERATING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE (IA Code)

• 1 Serious Misdemeanor: 321.279 ELUDING LAW ENF. VEHICLE (IA Code)

• 1 Simple Misdemeanor: 719.1 INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS

• 1 Simple Misdemeanor: 321.285 SPEED (IA Code)

  1. Is that the question you would have asked if she had plowed her 3 ton vehicle into a family member and injured/killed them.

  2. So? Why tell us she was “lunch lady”? Like you have no idea people from all walks of life drink?

    1. But do the continue to drive then think they can endanger others further by trying to outrun the police?
