ATLANTA, June 11 (UPI) — Former Atlanta Hawks player Mookie Blaylock has turned himself in to face charges stemming from a head-on collision that killed a Georgia mother of five.
Blaylock, 46, is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, driving on a suspended license, failure to maintain lane and crossing a center median, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The May 31st wreck in suburban Atlanta killed 40-year-old Monica Murphy and injured both Murphy’s husband and Blaylock.
Blaylock spent more than a week at the Atlanta Medical Center while Frankie Murphy suffered only a broken ankle.
After surrendering, Blaylock was taken to the Clayton County jail to await a hearing before a magistrate judge to determine whether he will receive bond.
Last week his attorney Don Samuel said the accident was caused by a medical emergency currently under investigation.
