MASON CITY – Around 5:40 pm Friday, the Mason City Fire Department and Police Department responded to a call of a three vehicle accident on 19th Street and S. Pennsylvania Avenue.

At the scene it was said that a black car ran a stoplight. To avoid the car, a white SUV went into the other lane and hit an on-coming white pick-up truck.

The results of the accident were said to be that the two trucks were totaled.

There were injuries to the people in these vehicles. It was being determined whether they would be taken by ambulance.

The mother of male driver in the white pick-up said they’d be taking their son to Mercy to get checked out, “He said he had some neck pain. It was a new truck and it’s totaled.”

The mother of the male driver of the white SUV said, “My daughter-in-law said she had some shoulder pain and my grandson said he some back pain, they are checking them out now. I heard that the driver of the car may have been drinking.”

The female driver of the car was being questioned by the Mason City Police and was taken to a squad car. The car was being heavily searched.
