At least 3 shot at Lone Star College

HOUSTON, Jan. 22 (UPI) — At least three people were shot Wednesday at Lone Star College near Houston, where police arrested one suspect and were searching for another, officials said.

The college was placed on lockdown following the shooting just after noon, school spokesman Jed Young told CNN.

“We know that shots have been fired and we are in a shelter-in-place situation on the campus,” Lone Star College System spokeswoman Vicki Cassidy told The Houston Chronicle. “It’s a pretty chaotic scene at this point in time.”

The Chronicle said the shooting occurred in the library and may also have occurred in a cafeteria.

KPRC-TV, Houston, reported the suspect being sought was described as wearing a red shirt and an Atlanta Falcons baseball cap, and was last seen running toward a residential neighborhood near the campus in an unincorporated area of Harris County.

More than 10,000 students attend the school.
