Canada woman accused of poisoning lunches

GATINEAU, Quebec, Jan. 22 (UPI) — A 60-year-old Canadian woman is facing charges she tainted her co-workers’ lunches with an anti-psychotic drug, authorities say.

Lise Filion of Gastineau, Quebec, faces two counts of administering a noxious substance, the Metro Ottawa news website reported Tuesday.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported police began investigating after receiving a complaint last Feb. 16 that one worker at financial institution was taken to a hospital after eating lunch. Tests revealed an anti-psychotic drug was added to the food, the report said.

Police learned there had been multiple incidents between April 1 and Dec. 31, 2011.

It wasn’t reported why Filion, who faces up to two years in jail if convicted, would have tainted her co-workers’ food.
