IOWA CITY – The Iowa Hawkeyes are aware they will have their hands full in their Saturday contest again the Wisconsin Badgers.
Reacting to Wisconsin’s huge road victory over #2 ranked Indiana on Tuesday night, Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said Wednesday at a press conference that the Badgers “played tough, they played smart, they didn’t turn it over, they made shots, they made shots when they needed to, they rebounded, they got ahead.”
McCafferey said the experience of the Badgers paid of for their win over Indiana, and will be in the Badgers’ favor when they visit the youthful Hawkeyes in Iowa City.
“That’s an experienced team. Very few teams are that experienced. They’ve got three senior starters in the front line, two fifth-year seniors, junior guard, sophomore guard. It’s an experienced team.”
Iowa got it’s first conference victory of the season on Sunday, a blowout 70-50 win over Northwestern on the road.
Iowa is 11-5 overall, 1-3 in the conference while Wisconsin is 4-0 in the conference.
