AMES – The Iowa State Cyclones men’s basketball team is preparing to take on the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.

The Cyclones (10-4, 0-1), who lost a very tight game last week on the road against Kansas, snapped its seven-game losing streak to Texas with a 77-71 win over Texas in Ames last year.  Iowa State lost a heartbreaker in overtime at No. 6 Kansas on Wednesday, 97-89. ISU was up by four points with 0:27 seconds left and still had a 3-point lead with 0:08 seconds left.  Despite the loss, the Cyclones received a valiant effort from many players. ISU had six players score in double figures for the third time this season.

Chris Babb is averaging 10.3 points and shooting 40.9 percent (9-22 3FG) from 3-point range in three career games vs. Texas.  Babb scored 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from downtown in last year’s win in Ames.

Texas leads the all-time series vs. Iowa State at 15-9.

Iowa State boasts one of the nation’s best homecourt winning streaks at 15 games, which currently ties for the 11th-best active homecourt winning streak in the nation.  It also ties for the fourth-best homecourt winning streak in school history.
