Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) — No move of the anti-reunification forces can block the advance of the patriotic and enthusiastic Korean nation for reunification, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a bylined article. It goes on:
This year the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration called for ending the deadlocked inter-Korean relations and giving continuity to the trend of the June 15 era of reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation. Political and public figures and other people from all walks of life in south Korea positively responded to this call.
Many organizations of south Korea held meetings, seminars, press conferences and other forms of meetings and issued statements and resolutions one after another, supporting the inter-Korean declarations and vowing to conduct dynamic movement for national reunification under the banner of “By our nation itself”.
A meeting for marking the 12th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was held in Pyongyang and events for marking the anniversary were held in south Korea with broad segments of people attending.
More than 40 political parties, civic and public organizations and other people in south Korea organized the event committee on the occasion of June 15 and October 4 and hosted unprecedentedly big events for reunification in Seoul, Pusan, Kwangju and major other cities.
The opposition party forces of south Korea accused the conservative authorities for scotching the tour of Mt. Kumgang and Kaesong area and blocking even the humanitarian cooperation undertakings of NGOs, demanding them roll back the failed “policy toward the north” and opt to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.
Religious organizations of south Korea held joint events and meetings with civic and public organizations and organizations for reunification movement at which they demanded the authorities take the road of peaceful reunification by respecting and implementing the inter-Korean declarations.
Koreans in China, Uzbekistan, the U.S., Japan and other countries and regions expressed support and solidarity with the south Korean people in their struggle to check and frustrate the south Korean puppet authorities’ vicious moves for escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen and the U.S. moves for aggression against the DPRK, and implement the inter-Korean declarations.
Organizations in the north and the south and abroad in their statements and commentaries denounced the war attempts of warmongers at home and abroad. Broad segments of people waged anti-war peace struggle of varied forms including meeting, demonstration and signature campaign.
Difficulties and trials are lying in the way of national reunification but the Korean nation will never vacillate nor give up, concludes the article.
