MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man has been released from the Cerro Gordo County Jail a week after Assistant Chief Judge, James M. Drew upheld a $4,000 cash only bond against 29-year-old Shadrick Dennery Vogt at a bond review hearing on October 15th.
Following last week’s bond review Shadrick Vogt entered two written pleas of guilty on Monday, October 22nd. Following the plea changes Judge Drew ordered Vogt released from the custody of the Cerro Gordo County Jail to the supervision of court services.
Shadrick Vogt had been booked into the jail September 25th at 4:52 PM on two counts of child endangerment with no injury (726.6(7)), an aggravated misdemeanor. The charges stem from incidents on July 1, 2012 and July 27th, 2012.
It is unclear if Vogt has pled guilty to the original child endangerment charges or has received another plea agreement to lesser charges. No sentencing date has been recorded in online records.
Shadrick Vogt was charged earlier in 2012 with one aggravated misdemeanor count of child endangerment with no injury 726.6(7) for a January 1st incident. Judge Rustin Davenport accepted a plea deal where Vogt plead guilty to a lesser assault causing bodily injury charge. He was given a $315 fine and other costs totaling $645.48, which he still owes in full.

Shadrick is a long time friend of mine haven’t seen him for a while but I don’t see him hurting a kid
He is used to these plea bargains. They started with his 1st crime as a teen. He was charged with assault with intent to sexual commit sexual abuse. Suddenly after 2 years in juvy it was called simple assault.
What’s with these judges? They let all these child abusers off? And, you know they will just go back and do it again! I’m writing to each judge.
He more then just spanked the child. He’s abused the children on more then one occasion. There not his children there his wife’s children. She continue’s to allow him back into the home on more then one occasion. I’m sure there’s also some sort of abuse from her also.
If you’re sure there is some sort of abuse from her also, why haven’t you notified the authorities? Shame when people can anonymously accuse someone of an act with no proof to back it up or don’t have the courage to come forth and back up their possibly unwarranted accusations. If I were his wife, I would subpoena your name and address from NIT and possibly consider libel charges for what you wrote and what NIT printed.

What did he supposedly do? If he just spanked a child I am OK with that. If he hit the child in the face or caused a bruise we have a different situation altogether. If he was released to go back to the same child he abused we have a real problem as that is how kids get killed.
It was not just a spanking, he should stay in jail for a very long time. I am extremely dissapointed in this judge for letting him go!
