Kanawha – The town of Kanawha will be in the spotlight on September 3, 2012 for three Guinness World Record attempts as part of their annual Kanawha Labor Day Festival.

Mark Hanson will try to break his 3-ball speed juggling record that he set on December 17, 2011 in Mason City. He will also try breaking a second 3-ball juggling record for most juggling head rolls.

Mark Hanson (pictured) has significantly improved his juggling speed over the past few months.  Performing simulated juggling records at recent town festivals in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin produced surprising results. “With a new juggling pattern and tons of practice Iʼm achieving numbers I never thought possible.” Hanson said.

Christa Hanson, known for her unusual paper snowflakes, will attempt to create the worldʼs largest paper snowflake. Christa has to make a snowflake at least 13 feet in diameter to get into the Guinness record book. Where do you get paper that big?

Printing Services, Inc. of Belmond donated a roll of 35 inch wide paper that she will tape together to achieve the 13 foot size.

Christa has to send a normal sized replica of the full-sized snowflake to Guinness World Records in London, England as part of the verification process. “The small snowflake is actually harder to make, in some ways.” Christa confided. “Making the shapes so small is more difficult than the huge pieces that will be cut out of the large version.”
