On Sunday, July 22, 2012 at approximately 3:34 AM, Waterloo Police patrolling in the area of E.4th Street and Adams Street heard several gunshots on Adams Street. As officers arrived in the 300 block of Adams, several subjects and vehicles took off from the area.
Police chased after one suspect, arrested him and recovered a sawed off, double barrel shotgun. Arrested was Dennis NMN Cook, Jr. age 16, of 510 Cottage Street, Waterloo, IA. He was charged with Unauthorized Possession of an Offensive Weapon and Interference. He was taken to the BHC Detention Center.
The police also recovered a .25 caliber handgun. The case remains under investigation.
