Iowa woman nabbed for first-degree murder after man stabbed to death

BURLINGTON, IOWA – An Iowa woman is behind bars today after a man was stabbed to death Saturday evening.

On March 1, 2025, at approximately 4:58 PM, Burlington police officers responded to 300 Angular Street Apt. 27 for a report of an unresponsive male who had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located the male victim with what appeared to be a single stab wound. Also located in the apartment was a female identified as 49-year-old Tisha Renee Bounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for treatment. A short time later, the victim was pronounced deceased.

The Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division began investigating the incident. Through the investigation, Tisha Renee Bounds was identified as the suspect and subsequently placed under arrest for Murder in the First Degree.

Tisha Renee Bounds is being held on NO BOND pending a court appearance.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Burlington Police Department was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
