IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz has been named to the John Mackey Award Watch List and senior center James Ferentz has been selected to the Rimington Trophy Watch List. The Mackey Award goes annually to the nation’s best tight end and the Rimington Trophy is presented to the top center in the country.

Fiedorowicz (6-foot-7, 265) saw action in all 13 games in 2011 and made five starts. The Johnsburg, Ill., native had 16 catches for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Fiedorowicz, one of 33 tight ends named to the preseason list, has played in all 26 contests during his first two seasons. He was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List for the tight end trophy Monday.

Former Hawkeye tight end Dallas Clark won the Mackey Award in 2002.

Ferentz was also named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List prior to last season. The Iowa City native earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in 2011 by both league coaches and media. Ferentz (6-foot-2, 284) has started the last 26 games at center.

Iowa opens its 2012 season Sept. 1 against Northern Illinois at Soldier Field in Chicago. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m., CT (ESPNU).
