MASON CITY – Mason City police were dispatched to Gracious Estates Mobile Home Park, 777 S. Eisenhower Avenue, Tuesday evening at about 6 PM after a female dialed 911, yelling for help.
Ryan Patrick Gallagher (pictured, bottom), age 35, was arrested and charged with domestic assault (702.2A(2B), a serious misdemeanor) and obstruction of emergency communications (727.5). He was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 6:32 PM.
It was said that one female and two males were involved in the altercation.
A person familiar with those involved told an NIT reporter that “Ryan was just trying to get his stuff when the other two started in on him.”

Hmmm….why did the two that started not get arrested ….oh that’s right Ryan has military background so probably fought back and got in trouble for defending himself. Well, what goes around comes around…he served his country and a lot of people support him. Karama will find its way that’s a guarantee. To bad the police only see it one way. Hope he gets a good lawyer. Maybe a veteran attorney should step up and offer to represent him, its time someone shows that we really do care about our veterans.

If that is true it just goes to show that you always need to have a police officer standby while you retrieve your belongings. It would save a lot of trouble down the road. Relationships gone bad are one of the main reasons for criminal charges, right behind illegal drugs.
I agree Tom. It sounds like this man was trying to get away from a bad situation and instead it got worse. If he showed up to retrieve his items in a civil manner then the same respect should have been shown towards him. But unfortunately there are too many idiots out there.
