Police working with City to clean up town

by Matt Marquardt –

The Mason City Police say they have been proactive in dealing with junk and nuisances within the city, according to a press release today.

“During the last year, the Mason City Police Department and Neighborhood Services worked together on a city wide project of cleaning up the neighborhoods and bringing property owners into compliance with the City’s junked vehicle and nuisances ordinances,” police said.

According to figures released Monday, a total of 549 abatement notices were issued, of which 98 were for junked vehicles.  Police say that violators were given at least two weeks to comply, before being cited for non-compliance.  Figures released also show that only 18 municipal infractions were issued for non-compliance.

Police also say the effort is still on-going, and are asking for the public’s help.  They say you can call in a nuisance if you spot one.  You can call the Neighborhood Services Department at City Hall at 641-421-3380 or the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

I thought this is what we had hired an extra city inspector for. Cops, you should be out fighting real crime, especially with the kind of things we got going on in this city right now. We have more important things to deal with then a junk car. You are getting paid what 80(K) to clean people’s yards? get real!

IF YOU DON’T NIP PROBLEMS IN THE BUD, YOU’LL SURELY NOT LIKE THE FLOWER IT BUD’S
