4 Ill. residents accused of 20 break-ins

CARTHAGE, Ill. – At least 20 burglary cases that have plagued Hancock County, Ill., the past few months were cleared with the arrest of four Warsaw, Ill., residents, authorities said Thursday.

Tomasina Bough, 37; Jason Thurman, 31; Dustin Armstrong, 27; and Adrian Armstrong, 22, each have been charged with the crimes.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger said investigators from the Warsaw Police Department got a tip from a local resident about the break-ins and the possible involvement of the four.

A joint investigation was launched, which led to a search Tuesday of a Warsaw home at 305 Jackson St.

Bough and Thurman were stopped in a vehicle a few blocks away from the home and were taken into custody without further incident.

Bentzinger said authorities have recovered thousands of dollars worth of tools and other suspected stolen items.

On Wednesday, authorities searched another Warsaw home, at 430 Webster St., where thousands of dollars worth of items believed to have been stolen were recovered.

Dustin and Adrian Armstrong were arrested at that address.

Besides the sheriff’s office and Warsaw police officers, the Nauvoo and Carthage Police departments, along with sheriff’s reserves and the Illinois State Police took part in the investigation.

“I am very pleased and proud of the professional way members from these agencies worked together and successfully accomplished this mission,” Bentzinger said.

The four accused are being held in the Hancock County jail on $50,000 bail each.
