Advanced Auto employee faces felony theft charge

Mason City police went to Advanced Auto shortly before 7pm on Thursday after the business called to report a theft that had allegedly occurred that day.

As a result of the investigation police arrested an employee of the store. Corey Douglas Kenney, age 22, of Stacyville was charged with one count of felony 2nd degree theft $1,000 to $10,000 dollars and transported to the Cerro Gordo County jail.

Cory Kenney had an initial appearance before magistrate Rolf Aronsen Friday before being released on his own recognizance. A preliminary hearing on the charge has been set for Dec 30th at 8:30am at the Cerro Gordo County Court House.

2nd degree theft in Iowa is a class D felony. A person convicted faces a maximum of five years in prison. The sentence may be deferred or suspended, except for a forcible felony. Fines range from a minimum of $750 to a maximum of $7,500.

Why don’t you write some real news instead of using the copy and paste button and nabbin it off other websites…its amazing the globe hasn’t sued you yet.

You say print some real news? I think people committing felonies, especially a 2nd employee of the same small business in a week is news.
