Last week, Mason City officials continued to patrol the area near Vi-Cor’s new plant on South Benjamin Avenue in Mason City’s industrial Park.
Neighbors near the new plant have complained to city officials about the smell they claim is coming from the new plant.
City officials are patrolling the area on a “periodic basis” to determine what odor is present and the strength of the odor.
City Administrator Brent Trout will determine if further review is needed based on the report he is due to get from city staff.
Trout says he “continues to to communicate with Vi-Cor staff on the odor requirements for the processing plant. I will keep the city council informed as new developments occur.”
