There is a safety study being conducted on Highway 122 in Mason City at this time, according to a city hall memo from City Administrator Brent Trout.
The memo says that the “Iowa Department of Transportation has begun the safety study for the Highway 122 corridor between Monroe Ave. and Virginia Ave. The study will look at the many intersections to determine potential hazards and solutions. The consultants conducting the study have met with city and IDOT staff members to determine our concerns for the corridor. They will be meeting again with city staff on July 7th to review more information and ask further questions.”
It has been mentioned in city council meetings recently that the city is looking at the future of this stretch of Highway 122 and the possibility of changing the one-ways to two-ways.
