Construction is progressing on a new firefighter training house south of the agriculture barns at North Iowa Area Technical College. Mason City Fire Chief Bob Platts said the building is expected to be complete by June 30. NIACC and the Mason City Fire Department received $511,000 for the building, which will be used by numerous emergency services departments in North Iowa. The building simulates a two-and-a-half story house. It will also be used by police departments to practice forced entries, Platts said. He said he expects the building will be ready for training use by mid-summer.
