Mason City has released an update on the streetscape project that in underway in downtown Mason City.
General Notes:
The concrete portion of the sidewalk has been placed between State and 1st Street on the west side. Decorative pavers will be placed in the now empty center of these concrete sections.
When utility service interruptions occur, we will do our best to make personal and/or email notice ASAP that services will be temporarily interrupted until the repairs can be made. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Again, all work start dates are ‘weather permitting’.
Week of April 25
McKiness
Work will begin on State Street in front of the Park Inn to replace and relocate a 300’ section of water main. This work will include the removal and replacement of a section of State Street.
Water service line replacement will continue between 2nd Street and 3rd Street. There is a possibility, depending on the weather, that storm sewer work will begin at the intersection of 4th Street. This storm sewer work will start on 4th Street and will continue south as the work progresses. When this storm sewer installation begins, a short term closure of the intersection of 4th Street and Federal will be necessary. When the intersection at 4th is closed, the intersection of 3rd Street will be open to traffic.
Work will also continue in the Plaza, with additional storm sewer installation and the relocation of one water service valve. Depending on the progression of work, coring and additional preparation work may also take place to facilitate the upcoming sidewalk installation.
Wicks
Work will continue between State and 1st Street on the east side in preparation to pour the concrete portion of the sidewalk. Once the prep work is completed and the forms are in place, it will take approximately three days to pour the concrete section of the sidewalks.
Light pole base work will continue between State and 2nd Street, including the pouring of the concrete center core. |
