DES MOINES: Today the Iowa House and Senate approved the statewide redistricting plan proposed by the nonpartisan Legislative Service Bureau. Governor Branstad also indicated today that he will approve the plan. After it was clear the plan would be approved, State Senator Amanda Ragan of Mason City issued the following statement.
“Iowa’s redistricting process is a national model because it is nonpartisan and it protects every citizen’s right to equal representation.
“Under the new plan approved today, I will represent the new Senate District 27, which includes the counties of Franklin, part of Butler and most of Cerro Gordo County.
“As the state senator of the new Senate District 27, I will continue to focus on job creation, great local schools, and a balanced budget that does not raise taxes.
“Until the end of the 84th General Assembly I will continue to represent my current Senate District.
“As always, I want to hear from the people I represent. I hope my current constituents will continue to share their thoughts and concerns with me, and I’m looking forward to meeting my new constituents, too. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can always call me on my cell phone, (641) 425-8807, or email me at amanda.ragan@legis.iowa.gov.
