Police respond to “large fight” in Mason City, take drunk driver to jail

MASON CITY – A police response to a “large fight” in a Mason City neighborhood led to the arrest of a drunk driver.

On Sunday, March 4 at about 2:34 AM, Mason City police officers were dispatched for a large fight in the street near President Avenue and 7th Street SW.  Cerro Gordo deputies assisted the MCPD at said location, which turned out to be 115 7th Street SW.  Subjects left upon arrival of officers, police say.

As a result of the response, however, the property owners, Raymond and Mary Blanchard, were warned of the verified disturbance and could face penalties if police are called back.

One man was arrested.  Darryl E. Williams, age 28 of Mason City, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and driving while revoked due to a current drunk driving charge.  He was jailed and soon released.  Williams is facing charges in Floyd county of drunk driving and illegal drug possession and will stand trial in April.
