DES MOINES — Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann was quick to criticize Hillary Clinton’s choice of Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate.
“Hillary Clinton’s choice of Tim Kaine is proof that she is not interested in challenging the status quo in Washington D.C. A Clinton-Kaine administration will be four more years of the same failed policies of President Obama. These policies have made the world less safe and left the people in small towns like Wilton, Iowa worried for their safety. They have led us to the slowest economic recovery since World War II. They have increased taxes and regulations that make it hard for its small business to grow.
“It’s time for true leadership, one that can restore economic freedom, provide safety for our citizens, put America in a global leadership position and make America great again.”
Clinton announced Kaine as her running mate Friday, July 22.
Tim Kaine, U.S. Senator from Virginia, says he has been a missionary, civil rights lawyer, teacher and elected official. He is one of 20 people in American history to have served as a Mayor, Governor and United States Senator.
Kaine was elected to the Senate in 2012 as “a can-do optimist” skilled in bringing people together across old lines of party, race or region. In the Senate, he serves on the Armed Services, Budget, Foreign Relations and Aging Committees. He is Ranking Member of the Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee and the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, International Operations and Bilateral International Development.
