Wanted man finally brought to county jail on warrant

MASON CITY – A man wanted for months on a warrant connected to an attempted theft in Mason City was finally brought to jail.

A theft was reported at Fleet Farm, 3200 4th Street SW, on the evening of June 22 after 8:00 PM. Police arrived, and after an investigation, arrested Jacob Eugene Hansel of Martelle, Iowa. Hansel was charged with theft in the third degree, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Hansel, a convicted felon for theft in the second degree, remained in the Cerro Gordo county jail on $5,000 cash/surety bond. He posted surety bond and was released on a promise to appear in court on July 13 as county prosecutors moved to amend his charge to fifth-degree theft. Hansel never showed up, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

After being detained in Linn county for crimes there, Hansel was brought to the Cerro Gordo county jail Thursday afternoon to face the fifth-degree theft charge and outstanding charges of driving while barred and criminal mischief. No court date appears to have been set, yet.

What’s better, is that hes still down south terrorizing because the police departments can’t figure out to look him and his brothers up. Worthless wastes of space that continue to spread mayhem, fear, and drugs to children in their own community. Shame on all police departments for being aware and allowing it to happen for years.

Hope he enjoyed the scenic drive north.
