GOP suspends ties to NBC for future debates after performance of moderators

Ted Cruz slammed the CNBC moderators at Wednesday’s presidential debate
NIT – In the wake of last week’s Republican presidential debate moderated by CNBC in which some of the candidates felt attacked or belittled by the questions posed to them, the party announced today is has suspended cooperation with NBC until the matter can be resolved.

“The campaign supports the RNC’s decision to suspend the debate on February 26th due to the total lack of substance and respect exhibited during Wednesday’s night’s debate,” Donald J. Trump’s campaign said in a statement. “We look forward to pursuing alternatives along with the RNC to ensure candidates are given ample opportunity to outline their vision for the future of our country.”

Mr. Andrew Lack
Chairman, NBC News
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, New York 10112

Dear Mr. Lack,

I write to inform you that pending further discussion between the Republican National Committee (RNC) and our presidential campaigns, we are suspending the partnership with NBC News for the Republican primary debate at the University of Houston on February 26, 2016. The RNC’s sole role in the primary debate process is to ensure that our candidates are given a full and fair opportunity to lay out their vision for America’s future. We simply cannot continue with NBC without full consultation with our campaigns.

The CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith. We understand that NBC does not exercise full editorial control over CNBC’s journalistic approach. However, the network is an arm of your organization, and we need to ensure there is not a repeat performance.

CNBC billed the debate as one that would focus on “the key issues that matter to all voters—job growth, taxes, technology, retirement and the health of our national economy.” That was not the case. Before the debate, the candidates were promised an opening question on economic or financial matters. That was not the case. Candidates were promised that speaking time would be carefully monitored to ensure fairness. That was not the case. Questions were inaccurate or downright offensive. The first question directed to one of our candidates asked if he was running a comic book version of a presidential campaign, hardly in the spirit of how the debate was billed.

While debates are meant to include tough questions and contrast candidates’ visions and policies for the future of America, CNBC’s moderators engaged in a series of “gotcha” questions, petty and mean-spirited in tone, and designed to embarrass our candidates. What took place Wednesday night was not an attempt to give the American people a greater understanding of our candidates’ policies and ideas.

I have tremendous respect for the First Amendment and freedom of the press. However, I also expect the media to host a substantive debate on consequential issues important to Americans. CNBC did not.

While we are suspending our partnership with NBC News and its properties, we still fully intend to have a debate on that day, and will ensure that National Review remains part of it.

I will be working with our candidates to discuss how to move forward and will be in touch.

Sincerely,

Reince Priebus
Chairman, Republican National Committee

For the party that’s all about personally responsibility, bucking the PC crowd and pulling up your bootstraps they sure do whine an awful lot. The repub candidates talk about how they’ll be tough on China, and tough on Putin but can’t even handle questions from Jim Kramer. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!

waaaaaah, they asked us tough questions, waaaaaah! We want moderators who will let us continue to spread misinformation to the stupid republican base. We can’t have our factless platforms be exposed for the shams they are waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I didn’t hear any tough questions, I heard questions about what is my weakness or fantasy football, or what is the other guy doing wrong. you people are so diluted.

There was one question about fantasy football and it was really about online gambling in general, which should be right up the alley of the “family values party”. It’s funny now how the Repub candidates can’t agree on whether or not they want to sign the protest. LOL what a joke of a candidate field. Feel The Bern

@You Are a Racist-Aw look here, another infantile, stupid comment made up by a racist. How typical of the free stuff party.

LVS and Peter. Kindred spirits who butt heads in the same boat.

When are the American people (voters) going to wake up and realize the Main Stream Media is the largest donator and promoter for the Communism/Socialism/Progressive/Democrat Party!

This lousy media lie to the Democrats and keep them whipped up into such a negative frenzy the liberals can’t see and hear the truth when it starring them in the face. I won’t let FOX NEWS off the hook either. The can be just as bad. Just look at Meagan Kelly’s goofy behavior during the first debate!

The Democrats that vote their party wishes are living a complete lie.

It is about time the Candidates running for President stand up to CBS/ABC/NBC/CNN/CNBC ect. and call them out for being the lying SOBs they are.

Any links or evidence to back up your claims? Or are these just fantasies you’ve concocted to fit your narrative.

Apparently not…

Nada……..Watchdog dog did not imagine this nor are they fantasies. They are simply rehashed garbage that you get fed from listening to Rush Limbaugh Radio for 3 hours every afternoon. Turns your cerebrum into mush.

kind of like the BS you guys keep repeating from msnbc.

Geez! I must be getting old . I can remember when the demorats were the working man,s party (and I don,t mean pubic servants) now they sold out to big business and cannot be trusted about anything. GO DONALD TRUMP – GO AMERICA!

And you see it was TRUMP who took charge! All the rest are lackies like obosoo.

And Donald T. Rump….. among others complained about the questions asked by moderator Megyn Kelly of Faux News during the first debate. Shameful representation of what was once the Grand Old Party

Damn, Libraterds are STUPID.

and thats being too kind LVS.

from the time that i read it to the time i responded, 1 minute LVS’s post was deleted. I think all the postings that are deleted are reported by liberals, and they talk smack about republicans.

Seriously!
These guys can’t handle a mediator that works for NBC but they think they can handle being the president of the United States! What a joke! Just more fuel for the Democrats to use against the Republicans. The Republicans are their own worst enemy.
