MASON CITY – A Fertile, Iowa woman was stopped for speeding and drunk driving on a rural Cerro Gordo county road has pled guilty and is serving jail time.
A Cerro Gordo deputy made a traffic stop of an allegedly speeding vehicle just before 2:00 AM June 1, 2015, at Killdeer Avenue and 285th Street. As a result, 20-year-old Paige Ashley Holt of Fertile was arrested on a charge of first offense operating while intoxicated and speeding, 20 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit of 55.
Holt pled guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated on October 6. She i snow serving a two day jail sentence and must pay $1,797.50 in fines and court fees. She will face a December 15 non-jury trial on the speeding charge.
very likely stopped without cause. At 2.00am you will be stopped for a fake reason or lie. They just want to have a look in your car.
I was stopped twice in the last year, neither time was I or had I done anything wrong. It was past midnight and cops wanted to look.
1st time they said I was driving left of center ( I was not) after looking in my car, and me telling them that I was not, I was let go.
2nd time I was stopped for no licence plate light (their favorite excuse) after checking me and licence, I got out of my vehicle and low and behold, all lights were on and working ( a miracle)
Sorry , late night you will be stopped WITHOUT cause. Your papers please!! If you blindly trust our law enforcement, you are making a big mistake
I have to agree with sad but true, this has happened to me as well, more than once. Improper lights that seem to be working fine after I get pulled over.
This person apparently was intoxicated, but the fact remains, at night it is a fishing expedition for law enforcement.
if she was drunk which is apparent due to the guilty plea, how does she know she wasn’t speeding?? Duh
