Fleet-footed female flees cops

MASON CITY – A wanted woman fled from law enforcement Saturday but wasn’t quick enough to escape capture.

Joleen Francis Billick, age 39, had been wanted since March 6 on a warrant in connection to a third degree theft charge and a probation violation she allegedly committed. Saturday just before 1 PM, an officer spotted Billick at the 000 block of Mission Drive, whom he knew to have an arrest warrant. Billick proceeded to flee from officers between the houses in that neighborhood. Cerro Gordo deputies were then called in to assist in the chase. Billick then entered an unoccupied house trying to avoid being arrested, police said. She was soon arrested on the warrant as well as additional charges of criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Billick is being held on $3,200 bond in the county jail.
