MASON CITY – Southbridge Mall drove away the bell ringers this holiday season, but not the troublemakers.
According to police, a deal gone bad at a mall parking lot lead to a felony charge against a North Iowa woman as cops chased an armed, miffed mary-jane-deprived man north through the Cultural Crescent.
Police said Tuesday that Monday evening at about 8:00 PM, they received a call alerting them to an armed man – possibly with a handgun – seen in the east parking lot at Southbridge Mall, 100 South Federal Avenue. A man fitting that description was observed running northbound on Commercial Alley, dangerously close to the back door of the beloved Chamber of Commerce headquarters. He was stopped by officers and taken into custody without incident.
Police determined that a male and a female who were acquainted met at the Southbridge Mall east parking lot for what they described as a “transaction” that “did not go well” which involved marijuana. As a result of the botched deal, Michael Schenker, ago 18 with a last-known address of Osage, displayed an air pistol and then fled the scene.
The other person involved in the deal, Tessa Rose-Marion, age 20 with a last-known address of Nashua, was first identified as a witness, but later arrested on a felony D charge of Intent to Deliver Marijuana.
Schenker was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. He beat a trespassing charge brought by Mason City police this summer.
Both were taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and held on bond.
No sculptures were harmed or damaged in the incident.

@walt white-It is illegal to display a BB gun if it is used to threaten another person. It is also pretty stupid. The police are apt to shoot you for displaying any kind of weapon. They will shoot first and then find out it was a BB gun. By then it is to late for the dummy showing the BB gun.

The primary medicinal effects of cannabis is not found in a narrow band of synthetic man made THC found in Marinol. THC is the stuff that gives you a buzz. The medicine is found in the CBD and CBN aspects of THC which are not it Marinol. It’s not the THC, it’s the ratio of it’s primary constituents that are responsible for it’s cancer tumor shrinking ability as well as it’s other medicinal effects.
Here’s proof that even our own government knows this. —> The federal government has patients it grows and supplies with cannabis for medical reasons. Why would the federal government maintain an expensive grow facility in Mississippi to grow marijuana for it’s federal patients if Marinol is the same thing? Observer, wouldn’t be better and cheaper to simply issue them Marinol?
WHY don’t they do this Observer, if what you’re saying is correct? Because marinol does not contain the medicine that these patients need. It’s why the feds grow it and supply tins of joints to these special patients.
Why do the feds grow pot? Why not simply issue a marinol pill? Because Marinol contains what gets you high, not what helps you medically, that’s why.

Exactly what lie is that? That in double blind scientific tests of a stable and exacting dose of Marinol, patients were brought relief? That said research which was peer reviewed and found safe? That FDA has found the research to be credible? That Marinol is perfectly legal with a prescription?
There is nothing in my warped logic. Marinol is an appropriate product to help AIDS and Cancer patients with side effects of their treatment. It’s production provides the same dosage time and again, whilst the drugs you purchase from some street pusher is a crapshoot when it comes dose, strength, and purity.
If one is serious about treating their disease, one will want the same results time and again if they follow the prescribed regimen.
If one just wants the ability to justify their recreational illegal drug use, they don’t care either way….they just want to get high.

First off, your rant fails to consider that if the law is so silly, why it has not been totally repealed since the 1930’s? (it was an international convention in 1936, so blame not just the U.S. – Article 2 of the Convention called upon signatory countries to use their national criminal law systems to “severely” punish, “particularly by imprisonment or other penalties of deprivation of liberty” acts directly related to drug trafficking. )
And please, before you whine about medical use, that is already accounted for since there is Marinol available for patients.

I for one am very happy that no sculptures were harmed in the fracas. That would have been a travesty. Since they are critical to our economy and have brought so many new jobs to the community. The Dice Sculpture alone gave work to a couple of city staff when they had to move them from the flower bed. In Robin Anderson’s brilliant mind, the first place to put it was in a flower bed..
