Mason City man charged with felony burglary and kidnapping

MASON CITY – A Mason City man faces serious charges after an incident early Friday.

Police responded to a disturbance at 210 North Madison at about 3:23 AM Friday. The person who called police reported that 30-year-old Bryen Paul Servantez broke a window at the residence and then fled the scene. When officers arrived, an investigation was conducted, and it was determined that a dispute had occurred between Servantez and an ex-girlfriend.

Servantez later that day turned himself in to police and was charged with felony D attempted burglary, felony C third degree kidnapping, and simple assault. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on no bond until he sees a judge.

They throw everything they can think of at some of these people just to see what will stick. All it does is tie up the courts and cost us money. The practice should be stopped.

How is throwing a rock through someones window kidnapping? He didn’t kidnap anyone, how is he being charged with that?
