MASON CITY – A woman accused of stealing from Prairie Ridge Addiction Center will wait longer for her trial.
Tracy Hassman, age 42 was stand trial on a charge of felony first degree theft beginning Tuesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court. Records show that the trial has now been moved back to April 8th.
The trial has been moved back at least four times. The offenses date back to June of 2006; charges were filed in March of 2013.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

I agree, everybody here seems to think cops and prosecutors are Gods little angels. That everyone charged must be guilty. That’s far from the case.

I too had not heard of this one. How much did she get away with. I am sure they will try to sweep this under the rug. As much as I hate to agree with Mrs. SUCKS on anything I will agree with this statement. They have gotten completely out of hand and all it does is run up the bill on people who can’t afford it. Most just laugh about the “training” when done. They probably do some good but it is a good example of government out of control.

What about Prairie Ridge’s license to steal? Judges order defendants to treatment and it’s like handing Prairie Ridge a blank check. Defendants are required to pay whatever Prairie Ridge decides to charge. No incentive for corruption there, eh?…LOL
What a sham. What a shame. I’m glad they got ripped off. Treatment Centers have seen profits and income sky rocket all over do to judges orders. It’s a blank check and when the government pays for services it’s an even deeper pocket to pick. Treatment for pot? Oh, baby please.

Why is Prairie Ridge in the fault? So its ok for her to steal from PR. You say that people who are picked for drinking and driving are the victims? As an employer they probably paid her a decent wage and benefits. The cost to purchase drugs and alcohol is never a problem for someone who is abusing but then when they are ordered for treatment all of sudden its expensive and becomes everyone elses problem. Drug addiction treatments cost alot because of the factors involved when treating a patient. Medication and payment for counseling and therapy. Studies have shown that a full year of alchol treatment would cost a lot less than a year of imprisonment. Besides, this is someone’s life that’s on the line. What’s a thousand dollars compared to leading a clean, sober, happy, more productive, addiction-free life? Is it fair to those who have lost a loved one because of drunk driving that these people only get a slap on the hand and not charge them anything for their treatment? As far as the family goes, they all could benefit from treatment because of the drinking and driving.
Ya, let’s just take em of one drug and put them on another expensive big pharma drug and then pay Prairie Ridge thousands in talk therapy for the privilege.
Better yet let’s threaten a long jail sentence unless they give Prairie Ridge a BLANK CHECK. Let Prairie Ridge fill it out. Oh, I think the patient needs $2000 more dollars of talk therapy…I mean if they don’t want to go to JAIL.
