King decries Obama for pursuing minimum wage raise

Steve King thinks $7.50 an hour is just fine
Steve King thinks $7.50 an hour is just fine

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve King released the following statement after President Obama signed an executive order last week raising the minimum wage on federal contracts. The executive order raises the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10 an hour.

“The President has no constitutional authority to command a wage scale in every corner of America,” said King. “However, that is exactly what he attempts to do with his executive order on minimum wage today. If the President has the authority to order contract employers working for the federal government to pay a minimum wage of $10.10 an hour as opposed to $7.25 as set by Congress, then he has the authority to raise it to $20 or $50 or even $100 an hour. Where does this abuse of the Constitution stop? At this point our legal scholars, let alone the public, can’t keep up with the multitude of constitutional violations by this President.”

President Obama said later that he wants a nation-wide minimum raise hike.

Hey philosuphis you want to talk about Harley ok if they are so great how come they took our money, they did not need. Bookmeyer he take’s care of the rich, give all that big money, our money to Minert. My money. Bookie done it for a favor to Minert he got his buddy the Nazi drug addict Blodgett to line it up out to the country club. The Harley should of never got that money, our money you turd face.

The common man doesn’t care about corporate welfare. They only care if someone who they consider BELOW them get anything from government. The common man is a jealous man. Just another reason why Iowa Sucks.

The added cost to government contractors for the higher wage scale is more then covered by higher bids. This cost is covered by the tax payers of this country. A country that can’t pay its debts without borrowing a good portion of the money. I wish I could run my household that way.

Here’s where King is wrong, implying that Obama hasn’t the authority to set the wage requirements for government contracts under the constitution or that doing so is setting the wage scale in all corners of America.

King likes media attention, full stop.

Not a king fan but he makes a good point about our socialist dictator. All hail Osama Obama.

My response? : All hail George W. Bush.

Come on, get off that crap. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. I’m so sick of your convenient amnesia about the Bush years. If a “Christian”, white guy with a Texas drawl says it’s okay then it must be? Face it: Bush was your King. You guys felt as rightfully white as the snow covered night when he was your President. Things just felt “normal” didn’t they? The glass packs and tailpipes got louder than hell under the Bush years, and now we are left with the fallout. It’s far too disgusting to even think about. Makes me physically ill thinking of those years, and all the damage Society and the world is still recovering from.

Bunch of sickos. I’ll NEVER FORGET THE GEORGE W. BUSH YEARS….EVER.

And further what makes me sick is how Obama is forced to kiss the asses of all you war mongers because he has no choice when ascending to the role of the Presidency. I know in his heart he’d like to do to you all what Michael Moore would like to do: Try you for being war criminals. But he has no choice, he has to try and steer a bunch of violent, ignorant southern rednecks gently towards the path of peace. It’s not an easy line to walk, and Obama’s sheer genius has allowed him to do so. Personally I couldn’t contain myself, and I’d call you out as Orcs, but not everyone can be the President. Thank God we have a sensible man in there who keeps us on the path of peace and sensibility. To think of what would have happened were McCain or Romney elected? It’s too frightful a thought. War would be escalated everywhere, and new fronts against Iran would have already been started. Obama saved America from ruin, and you’re all too stupid to realize it.

Watch out peter, your inner democrat is starting to show.

Get off the Bush bashing. What Bush did or didn’t do has absolutely nothing to do with the criminal acts being done by the Osama Obama Administration. You harp about the Iraq War but it was approved by congress which included your Queen “B” Hilary and the Communist Kerry. Bush bashing is nothing but an excuse for you liberals who can’t come up with a legitimate reason to support your head communist. Come up with something original for a change.

what criminal acts?

Well breathing for one and then anything else he does after that. The fact that you can’t see what he is doing means you have been brainwashed but we will be here for you to help you in your recovery.

come on now…you and the others on the right are very good at throwing accusations around but when asked to be specific you come up with breathing. How can we take you serious?

When the simpleton right confine themselves to pumping iron, and working out (or drinking beer and shooting beer cans), they do okay. The problem is when they try to think, and it really becomes a problem when they think they can manage and set policy. That’s where the problems occur. During George Dubya Bush, the American Redneck, along with the help of the Christian Far Right, rose up and grabbed power in 2000. They brought the country to its lowest point, destroying the economy, starting huge wars, and giving away Billions in suitcase money to their cronies like Blackwater, Halliburton, and all the Wall STreet Thieving that occurred during the “heydays” of Bush 2. None of them want to remember that, because they’re not smart enough to remember those things. They only know 2 things: 1. (and pardon my language) There’s a Ni**er in the White House-therefore the world must be ending 2. Any Democrat Must be trying to get rid of the military and weaken National Security and also take away their guns.

I agree with them only on the right to Keep and Bear Arms. Most other aspects of their ideology and brains I don’t agree with. But if you really take a closer look at their brains…you see they themselves don’t even know what they believe in.

See Manifest Destiny definition, and you’ll better understand their childlike way of thinking.

Anybody in their right mind has to ask themselves what the hell is going on. He talks the democrats into passing obamacare saying it is the greatest thing since sliced bread and then they start having problems with it so he signs executive orders delaying each part of it which is against the law. He cannot change the law by himself, only congress can do that and if he doesn’t get congress to do it he tries to do it himself. Then there is gun control, he lies to everybody telling them how bad it is getting and how gun violence is going up when every right and left wing college that does surveys says gun violence is going down. I am not going to comment on the so called false flags because I am not sure if they are real or not. I have seen so many articles on how real they are and the same amount on how false they are so I don’t know. I do know that some of these people that he appointed to different positions are illegal but we won’t get into that either. Unless you don’t want to see it, all you have to do is look and you will see the criminal acts he is doing.

Peter your hatred for bush is apparent, you’ve concocted so many things that he supposedly has done, instead of your word I want proof. The word that you used, N***er has never come into my mind, I am not a racist,I didn’t vote for him but when he was elected I wanted him to do a good job and at first I was impressed, but then he changed and I wasn’t happy.

Pretty much every thing he does is criminal.

maybe…you are starting to sound just like King.

I don’t know too much about him but if I am starting to sound like him, he must be a pretty nice guy.

@Philly….Now you are blaming loud mufflers on Bush? You are a whack job. Hope your mother takes away your internet privileges!

Yes I do. I am one of the few who has paid attention to the correlation between the after events of 9/11 and the steady relaxing of muffler laws. An increase of American patriotism and bravado by local motorcycle clubs resulted in many co-opted “Patriot Rides” or “Freedom Runs”, between the bikers and local fire departments with local police participation and escort. Because of this, the Bikers became emboldened and started modifying their tailpipes to become louder and louder. Normally, they were in fear of cops pulling them over for loud pipes, but gradually that fear diminished. Manufacturers of aftermarket products like Screaming Eagles tailpipes stepped up production to meet the rising demand. Harley Davidson itself experienced all time highs in sales due to many soldiers returning home from the war and buying themselves new bikes. Harley also became equated with this notion of “American Freedom”, and the romantic image of riding across the American Countryside filled the minds of many men and women. It’s all fine and dandy to want to ride and feel your pride, but at the decibel levels they are doing so, makes it inconsiderate to the rest of the population who don’t want to hear such sounds. Laws are in place to protect us, but Loud Pipe enthusiasts have found a way to skirt around these laws because of vague understandings and criteria surrounding the quality of a “loud sound”. Police looking the other way, also helped in this “denial of the law.” ABATE and many biker clubs also pushed for loud pipes as a safety issue. All of it combined has resulted in today’s predicament where a man can ride around on a Chopper bike with absolutely no muffler system at all, and aggravate and “terrorize” a community, with no police intervention.

I pay attention to what happens in this world…unlike many of you sleeping cows.

You have got to be kidding me. You blame Bush for loud pipes? Unreal. You liberals will do anything to escape responsibility for your own actions. We have laws against loud pipes. The police just choose to ignore them for the most part. If you think they were loud last year just wait until summer.

Steve King once again proves he is an idiot. Someone all Iowan’s should be ashamed of.

@DR Dunn-Ah yes. You are entitled to your opinion. It is to bad the rest of Iowa doesn’t agree with you. They keep re-electing him time after time. I would guess a lot of people like what he says and does.

DR, What did Knig say that was not true in this statement? Can you explaine please?

All you can say is he is an idiot, how do you come to that conclusion with this simple statement that he made?

Don’t hold your breath on that answer, John.

The President is not attempting to raise all minimum wages. He would like to but he knows he doesn’t have the power to but he does have the constitutional authority to raise the minimum wage of contract workers that work for the Federal Government. King is a typical teabagger…takes a tiny bit of truth and stretches it so far that it comes out of his mouth as a bold faced lie. Then you take what he has said here and what he has said in the past and it is very easy to come up with “he is an idiot”. He doesn’t call a spade a spade as many of his kool aide drinking followers think. He calls a rake a spade.

You are right, Obama doesn’t want to raise wages for everybody. The report that I saw basically stated that minimum wages would be raised for everybody except soldiers.

maybe…don’t believe everything you read. It takes an act of congress to raise minimum wages on everyone and to give our soldiers a much needed raise. If congress would send the President the bills I bet he would sign them. Every adult who works a forty hour week should make a living wage.

Haven’t you heard, Obama doesn’t need congress, he said so himself. He will do an executive order and do it himself.

for government contract workers yes. For the rest of Americans…no. You are mistaken.

Is that a monkey on Kings back, or is he the puppeteer. I’ve heard that birds of a feather, flock together.
