President Obama: “Call A Vote Right Now”

President again calls for end to shut down
President again calls for end to shut down
WASHINGTON – On Monday, the White House reported that President Obama met with FEMA officials at the National Response Coordinating Center, where he thanked them for their service during the federal government shutdown in light of the arrival of Tropical Storm Karen and other potential natural disasters.

The President repeated his call for Congress to pass a continuing resolution to reopen the government and to raise the debt limit. The President noted that about 86% of FEMA employees are currently furloughed.

“Right now, Congress should do what’s in the best interest of the economy and the American people, and that’s move beyond this manufactured crisis and work together to focus on growth, jobs, and providing the vital services that Americans all across the country depend on, including the services that FEMA provides,” Mr. Obama said.

“I think the American people simply want government to work,” Mr. Obama said. “And there’s no reason that there has to be a shutdown in order for the kinds of negotiations Speaker Boehner says he wants to proceed. Hold a vote. Call a vote right now.”

Disgusting! Almost as bad as the local mudslinging campaign we have here!

“Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

–Sen. Barack Obama 2006

Hypocrite? You betcha!!

@foxrocks-Good comments. It is to bad that Reid and the Senate refused to vote on all the proposals that the House has voted for over the last year and especially the last month. This would have been done a week ago if they had. Of course it is Osama Obama that is really refusing to negotiate. Reid is just a SHEEPLE like the rest of the brainwashed libs.

Why is the Speaker afraid to call the vote? The American people are being held hostage by the Teapublicans and the Speaker is scared to death of them. Man up Mr. Speaker and call the vote!!

The TeaPublicans as you call them are the only elected officials that are concerned with the debt and the enormous debt that is Obamacare. The rest of the Democrats and some Republicans are only concerned with what the media is saying and what the lobbyist in Washington want. Thank God for the Teapublicans and I wish we had a lot more.

You are right Obama – we do want the government to “work”, that is actually work.
Also, we agree Congress should do what’s in the best interest of the economy and the American people. The best interest of the country would be to stop printing money to cover the spending nut generated by both parties, but particularly under Obama. The budget must be pulled back into balance and debt reduced – something Democrats in particular fear as giving away other people’s money it is their main crutch to stay in office.

@Anonymous-Good comments. Right on. The problem here is Obama, but the SHEEPLE are just not smart enough to see it.

@LVS, I think a better approach would be to use the term, “un-informed voter,” instead of Sheeple. You will not win the argument by name calling and telling people they are “stupid or not smart.” These people don’t know what they don’t know. It is up to intelegent people to let them know the truth, when they see it, they will understand it, I feel that is the best approach.

I didn’t mean to say intelegent people, what I ment to say was inteligent on the topic at hand. I don’t want anyone to thing the wrong thing about what I said above, there are far more intelegent people than me out there.

Well said.
