OBIT: Theresa McKibban

Theresa McKibban, age 89 of Humboldt, formerly of Livermore, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Friday at Lentz Funeral Home in Humboldt with Rosary starting at 3:30 PM and Scripture Service at 6:00 PM.

Theresa Mary McKibban was born on December 13, 1932, in St. Joe, Iowa to Raymond and Anna (Hilbert) Gales. She attended catholic school in St. Joe and graduated in 1950. On December 21, 1954, Theresa was united in marriage to Dale William McKibban at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. The couple lived in the Livermore area for 40 years. Theresa moved to Humboldt in 2017 after the loss of Dale. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great pride in her family.

Theresa had a green thumb and loved her plants, cacti and flowers. She enjoyed the beauty nature provides and you could often find her watching the many birds (and squirrels) she fed. Theresa was a collector of antiques and never missed out on a yard sale. She loved to keep her memory sharp by putting together puzzles with Dave and watching Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune religiously.

Left to cherish Theresa’s memory are her children: Dan (Karla) McKibban of Humboldt, Lucy McKibban of Humboldt, Nancy McKibban of Livermore and Patrick McKibban of Forest City; sister: Margaret Sopavich of Coalville; sisters-in-law: Audrey Gales of Dayton and Roberta Gales of Fort Dodge; brother-in-law: Paul (Katie) McKibban of Livermore and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Dale McKibban; infant daughter: Mary Catherine McKibban; son: David McKibban; parents: Raymond and Anna Gales and four siblings: Raymond Gales, Roseanne Kinnetz, John Gales and Jim Gales.
