DES MOINES – The Iowa House passed a controversial bill Monday requiring students participating in sports to compete based on the sex at birth, in an alleged attempt at “fairness” in girls’ sports.
Reaction to the advancing bill was swift from the left, as Progress Iowa Executive Director Matt Sinovic issued the following statement in response to Iowa Republican House members voting to pass HF 2416:
“Every child deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. But the bill passed today by Iowa House Republicans bullies kids who are already more likely to be ostracized.Sports provide a sense of belonging, accomplishment, and build confidence. By banning transgender kids from playing sports with their friends, they lose the ability to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and self-discipline, like every other kid. There is simply no evidence substantiating the claim that including transgender children in school sports will make anything ‘less fair.’ The Republican legislators working on these bans have been repeatedly asked to provide examples of unfairness, and have failed to provide any. We know that transgender youth are already at a higher risk for depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. Banning them from playing sports with their friends will only make things worse. Iowa’s Republican lawmakers should focus on passing legislation that invests in our schools and addresses Reynolds’ workforce crisis, instead of picking on children who just want to play sports with their friends. Trans children are children. They deserve to play with their friends and participate in activities like any other child.”
A North Iowa legislator in support of the bill, Rep. Henry Stone of Forest City, made a social media post Tuesday morning about the bill:
Mason City Democratic Rep. Sharon Steckman spoke “against the discriminatory transgender bill” and shared a social media post saying, “Transgender kids, like other students, deserve the same chances to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and self-discipline, and to build a sense of belonging with their peers.”

Are transgender athletes a threat to women sports?
Yes… says the national sports councils of the UK.
They said, “The Guidance concludes that the inclusion of transgender people into female sport cannot be balanced regarding transgender inclusion, fairness and safety in gender-affected sport where there is meaningful competition. This is due to retained differences in strength, stamina and physique between the average woman compared with the average transgender woman or non-binary person assigned male at birth, with or without testosterone suppression.”
Based upon current evidence. testosterone suppression is unlikely to guarantee fairness between transgender women and natal females in gender-affected sports:
a)Transgender women are on average likely to retain physical advantage in terms of physique, stamina, and strength. Such physical differences will also impact safety parameters in sports which are combat, collision or contact in nature.
b)Recent international policy on testosterone limits are set at a level below 5nmol/L in sports which choose to provide entry into female sports for transgender women. This is more appropriate than the 10nmol/L which is stipulated by the International Olympic Committee and which remains within the normal range for males. The current preliminary 12-month period is unlikely to result in the achievable minimisation of physical capacity.

The assumption these dumb asses make is that males are going to say they are trans to compete against girls. Not going to happen. The number of trans females competing in sports is small. The continued discrimination against them because they are trans is repulsive and certainly anti-Christian. Henry Stone is afraid of his own shadow.

Henry Stone is a moron, a failed used-RV salesman who needed a paycheck, and was willing do anything his rich Republipervert masters ordered, so they bought him this seat in the House. They paid for degrees from two for-profit colleges that he didn’t have to do anything to earn. Somebody else wrote that script for him, and created the post so he could share it. The bill does not “ban transgender kids from playing sports”. The sports are there. If the trans kids “choose” not to play the sports, that is up to them. Life is choices and life is perception: good, bad, fortunate, unfortunate, sad, happy. So is fair and unfair. There is no solid definition for anything. And you’re not always going to get your way about everything.
